let the name dropping commence

i'm still in a state of shock over what went down saturday night. for those not in the know, the IO 25th anniversary show/party had some pretty intense and complete technical problems (mostly related to audio) that neither of the newspapers were really willing to forgive (Chicago Tribune- "There was no excuse for what happened", sun-times: IO show suffers snafus improv can't cover)

yes the tech problems were inexcusable, but there was a lot of really great stuff happening, on-stage and off, and at some point today, i'll try to put those out there, too.

as for the name-drop contest we planned, that will trickle in throughout the day. here's the rules:

1. each animal club member can blog ONE post about EACH celebrity they interacted with.
2. a celebrity CAN appear as an accessory in a blogpost about ANOTHER celebrity.
3. posts are graded on coolness in the comments section
4. each post can have a maximum coolness of 10, a low of 0.
5. celebrity status SHOULD NOT NECESSARILY be a deciding factor in how cool a post is (in other words, a david koechner story is just as good as a mike myers story. sorry ruth!)
6. whoever has the most points at the end of the day wins.

get ready. get set. NAME DROP!

For those of us not cool enough to be in the Animal Club, will you please stop speaking in code and "name-drop" already. GOD! I hate missing out on all the details.

P.S. Did Ruth meet Mike Meyers as in "So I Married an Axe Murderer"-Mike Meyers or as in "The darkest eyes...the devil's eyes"-Mike Meyers? Just wondering...

unfortunately, the fallout from the debacle would make this name-drop contest in (official) poor taste. it already was in poor taste, but seeing as a lot of people i work with are bsically under a gag order while they sort this out, i think we'll just have to gab (pun) about this in person.

but ruth did meet "so i married an axe murderer" mike myers, and he's a really great guy. and funny as hell.

Although some stories may say different, Improv Olympic's 25th Anniversary show was an amazing experience. Sure there was a huge technical mishap
with the sound. But, that's what improv is all about anyway-living in what you least expect. And it was an incredibly rewarding experience to be backstage with a who's who of the improv world and watch these stars cope and encourage each other. No one flipped out when the sound stopped working. There were no divas, just a bunch of friends having fun and enjoying each other's company. Even all of us backstage crew people were treated like friends. There were many thank yous and friendly good-byes
from the performers after the night was through. It was phenomenal, an experience I won't soon forget because of all that and how down-to-earth just about everyone was. It felt like a happy family reunion.
