Is this thing on?
So, it's been a while. Sorry about the massive pause. It's been a long few weeks since our arrival back home from New York. Too much to explain, I'm afraid. But, regardless, we had a riotous time in the Big Apple. It was loaded with fun and games and so many happy reunions with friends and family on the East Coast. So much fun, in fact that we're heading back there to perform in NYC's Sketchfest at the UCB Theatre. Our roadtrip begins on Wednesday. With all this New York happening in our lives, it's got me thinking only one thing....
Why "The Big Apple" ? Why the big? Why the apple? I wonder. Then, I got the notion to go ahead and look it up on this handy-dandy thing called the internet and you know what I found? The name has to do with prostitutes . Go figure. Anyway. That's got me thinking about how little we know about not only The Big Apple, but also how little we know about apples in general. Sure, they're a fruit and they make a good cider, but do they really? And what else do they do? Here's a little apple quiz to see how much an expert you are with this mystical fruit. There are ten facts listed below. Five of them of them pertain to apples and five to former WWF wrestler Rowdy Roddy Piper. Keep score and find out how you stand in the over-all apple scheme of things.

You cited the infamous Big Apple Whore Hoax. None of that is true. "The Big Apple" comes from horseracing. See my Big Apple blog at www.barrypopik.com.
damn, barry popik. you know a lot about the big apple.
