Music To Your Ears

So, you're on the train, going to work, and you just can't get that song out of your head. And what's worse, you don't know what it's from. Is it Beethoven? Bangles? Beyonce? No. Battletoads. Yep. It's the music from the second part of the first level, where you're rappelling down that cavernous hole and you can turn into a wrecking ball if you hang out on the side and swing back. What a great game! What a great song! If only there was some place you could go to see a live orchestra play Battletoads tunes while footage of gameplay is projected on a giant screen.
If only...
Sadly there is no venue like that...for Battletoads. But; if you want to see a full orchestra play music from Halo, Mario, Zelda, Warcraft, Metal Gear Solid, Kingdom Hearts, Sonic, Everquest II, God of War, Medal of Honor, Myst, Tron, Pong, Donkey Kong, and many more; then, the Chicago Theatre has got the ticket for you. Yes, that's right for one night only (Nov. 12th), professionally trained and admired musicians will be throwing away Brahms and Mozart for musical scores made by computer geeks with no musical training whatsoever, while a large screen will show scenes of a computerized gorilla throwing barrels at a chubby, black-mustachioed Italian man.
THE SYMPHONY!! HOW GLORIOUS!!!
Tympanies accentuating Qbert? That couldn't be Bayou Billy sounding so exquisite with french horn freshness. Could it? An oboe in Yuri's Revenge? How could I ever go back to playing without a symphony backing me up?
One wonders.
