emusic part six, part two
i finished off my emusic for october yesterday. here's the spoils of this internet pillage...
• "A Song is Not The End of the World"- The Castanettes
just on a whim, thought i'd check these guys out. nothing really original going on here, just a mish mash of modest mouse and okkervil river. it's still good enough to listen to, though.
• The rest of "Girls Can Tell" and "Kill the Moonlight" by Spoon
I've been getting by (pun intended) on half of each of these albums for over three years. no more. good stuff- i would have done this sooner, but the majority of the spoon catalogue was just added last week.
• "Prospect Hummer"- The Animal Collective (pictured to the right)
this little four song ep features hermit-like 60's folk icon vashti bunyan on vocals and is a nice interstitial between their last two lps- the mind blowing "sung tongs" and this month's fantastic "feels".
• "Do They Know It's Halloween?"- The North American Halloween Prevention Initiative
i blogged about this the other day- it's a charity project for unicef, organized by beck and featuring a deep-breath worth of indie rock megastars (devendra banhart, feist, arcade fire, more) and the one and only david cross. it's pretty hilarious and a decent cause, so i was happy to contribute my however many cents went to it.
i still have one download remaining, but i've decided to conduct an experiment. if i don't use it, does it disappear., or will it "roll over" into next months downloads? frankly, i've got way too much new music to listen to anyway, so if the worst that happens is one track lost, i can live with that.
