dad music part one!

when we were home, i took advantage of the best music store on earth- my dad's collection! i scored countless ironic, funny, and sometimes actually just good albums. here's the list:

• "AWB"- The Average White Band
I don't care what anyone says- the average white band is great. everyone knows "pick up the pieces", but that's hands down the worst song on this album. the best part is they're scottish or swedish or something, and singer #2 rocks this EWF- wannabe falsetto. it's peerless.

• "Boston"- Boston
This landmark album features a giant space-faring guitar-shaped city on the cover. the music can't really live up to that (i mean, what can?), but the album does have "more than a feeling" and "smoikin'" on it.

• "Greatest Hits"- Hall & Oates
We needed this for a sketch featuring Tom as john oates, so there's that. some of this cd is flat out hillarious ("private eyes", "maneater", i'm looking at you), but some of it is actually not bad ("rich girl", "she's gone", i'll admit it, i like you both)

•"Invisible Touch"- Genesis
no excuses. whenever you get phil collins AND the guy from mike and the mechanics on the same album, none are needed. tornetta does a really fun robot dance to the title track that is totally worth it.

And, before any of you record companies get all huffy with your "you're pirating! you're pirating!" let me just say, fuck you. there is no way on god's green earth i would pay any amount of money for any of these albums, so you aren't losing a fucking a dime.

Misreading the first two entries of this post makes me wish for a list and rating of songs named after the band singing them.

The only ones that occur to me immediately are "The Monkees" and "Fun Lovin' Criminals." And every Snoop Dogg song ever.
